Respect for students and staff

As a Macquarie student, you’re joining an ethical and inclusive university community. We expect students and staff to treat others with respect and integrity.

A Macquarie education provides engaging and transformative learning and life experiences that encourage discovery, innovation and inclusion.

These experiences affirm our core values:

  • to improve lives through learning and research
  • to act ethically and equitably
  • to empower through diversity and inclusion.

To help you understand what’s expected of you in this environment, we ask that you complete the following iLearn modules:

We also suggest that you read through the Student Code of Conduct.

Looking after each other

Looking after your friends and your peers is important. Something as simple as messaging a friend might help cheer them up if they’re feeling down.

However, sometimes it is hard to know where to start. Here are three suggestions to help look after your friends and peers:

  1. Message someone you haven’t seen or heard from for a while and ask them how they’re going.
  2. Create a sense of community and inclusion by participating in class (whether it’s online or in person) and chatting with your peers.
  3. Connect with others by joining a student group. Invite friends along to events and enjoy engaging with the Macquarie community.

If you’re concerned about a friend’s wellbeing, or you want to know how to better support a friend in need, check out our CARE MQ network, as well as our other Student Wellbeing Services.

Harassment and bullying

If you’re being harassed or bullied, or if you’re concerned about your safety due to violence or sexual assault, you can report this to the University.
