Supporting (YOU)us to achieve success with integrity

Acting with academic integrity is vitally important to your academic success and can be a strong predictor of professional achievement in your career. Not only will you increase the depth and value of your learning experience, you’ll also develop the attributes of perseverance, determination and hard work that will serve you well in your future employment.

Do you need help to achieve your academic goals?

Often, the greatest temptation to cheat happens when you are having a hard time completing an assessment task or you are under time pressure. But cheating can cause serious repercussions for your studies and for your future, so we offer a range of resources and services to help you reach your potential. These include free online writing, maths, assessment support, learning skills, study help and a range of other services, such as wellbeing consultations.

Academic integrity values

The values of academic integrity at Macquarie are honesty, respect, trust, responsibility and support.

Acting with academic integrity means:

  • submitting assignments that are your own work
  • acknowledging the ideas and information of others by citing and referencing
  • providing accurate and honest data and information to the university, such as medical certificates
  • reporting breaches of academic integrity on the part of others
  • avoiding dishonest academic practices such as collusion or contract cheating.

But we also recognise that meeting the expectations required to complete your assessments can be challenging, so when you need help, we’re here to support you.

The Academic Integrity Module will help you fully understand what is okay and what is not acceptable in terms of academic practice. Most students complete this module as part of unit requirements at some time during their university journey. But remember, you can go back to the module and refresh your understanding of what is acceptable and unacceptable academic practice at any time.
