Congratulations! Your graduation is an important milestone – a memorable day to celebrate your time at Macquarie and the completion of your course.

We look forward to inviting you to a graduation ceremony with your peers, family and friends to celebrate your wonderful achievements with Macquarie University.

Graduation session dates and times

Graduates invited to attend this graduation series will find their invitation in their student email account.

Graduates who do not attend their allocated graduation OR have not responded to the invitation will graduate in absentia.  Your documents will be held by the Graduations Team until you nominate how you would like to receive your documents. If you graduate in absentia, you cannot attend a subsequent ceremony.

We are inviting graduates from 2022 onwards in chronological order of your conferral date.

While we are still confirming the graduation ceremony schedule for 2023. Please refer to the below table to check which ceremony you will likely be invited to, based on your conferral date.

Please note that the below dates are subject to change, and your ceremony date is not confirmed until you receive an invitation. We strongly advise against booking any flights or accommodation until you receive your invitation. Once a schedule is confirmed for your graduation series, we will send an invitation to your student email account. This will approximately be six weeks before your ceremony series.

Graduation fees and payments

Graduation Fee

The Graduation Fee of $249 includes the following*:

  • Your seating ticket and 2 guest tickets
  • Your academic gown, hood and your graduation cap all for you to keep
  • A robing service to ensure your academic dress looks perfect on the day
  • An official Macquarie University graduation program for your ceremony
  • Refreshments served to you and your 2 guests after the ceremony
  • A soft-touch silicone wallet for mobile phones
  • 10% discount voucher for a Macquarie University hoodie, jumper or jacket at Macshop Online

All these items will be given to you on the day of your ceremony.

Cancellations for the December 2022 Ceremonies: A full refund of the Graduation Fee will be issued if you decide to cancel your attendance and notify us in writing by 11:59pm on Friday 2 December 2022. To cancel, please contact us through an AskMQ enquiry.

Outstanding debts

Students who are indebted to the University will not be permitted to graduate until such debt is cleared. Graduation allocation is subject to all debts being cleared prior to the qualification cut-off date. We look forward to seeing you on our stage so please ensure you do not have any outstanding debts.

Change of name

Please check eStudent to ensure your name is correct. You may be liable for a name change replacement fee if your name is incorrect after your graduation documents are printed.

Deferral of ceremony

Requests to change within a ceremony series, will not be accommodated.

You may defer your graduation once, for up to 12 months. Permission to defer your ceremony can only be requested after you receive your graduation invitation. Requests will be assessed based on compelling personal, professional, medical, cultural or academic reasons. Requests should be lodged through the Graduation Ceremony Deferral form via AskMQ before the closing date for RSVP indicated on your graduation invitation. Documentation supporting your request should be attached as applicable.

Requests to defer your ceremony after the closing date for RSVP of your current graduation allocation will not be approved.

Graduating with a certificate

If you are graduating with a postgraduate or undergraduate certificate, study abroad diploma or certificate you will not be invited to attend a graduation ceremony. Your graduation documents will be mailed to you as soon as possible after the graduation series has concluded.

It is your responsibility to ensure your mailing details are kept current at all times. Ensure you check your preferred postal address on eStudent before completing your course.
