Begin your degreeĀ on the right foot

Congratulations on completing your journey with Macquarie University College!

We’re so excited to take this final step with you by equipping you with everything you need to succeed in the next stage of your studies at Macquarie University.

Set yourself up for success with the Academic Transition Program

The Academic Transition Program will help you take on your next academic adventure and start your studies with a bang! Over two weeks of this compulsory program you will attend sessions, workshops and events created to equip you with skills so you can move into your degree and beyond with confidence.

During your first week you will:

  • farewell your time at the College by learning the important differences between the College and degree-level study
  • develop new skills in the areas of critical thinking, leadership, and career development
  • and put your hard-won university knowledge into practice in the real world.

During your second week, you will join the rest of your degree cohort in attending Kickstart, your formal orientation program. You will:

  • learn about your new course and faculty
  • meet your classmates and teachers
  • understand the support and skills opportunities available
  • and participate in a range of social activities!

Can’t wait to find out exactly what’s planned? Don’t worry – if you are eligible to attend the upcoming Program, you will be emailed a registration link and we'll send you a full program of events once your registration is confirmed.

Make the most of the Learning Skills support available to you

We’re going to cover a lot of useful information as part of the Academic Transition Program, so you should make every effort to attend.

Here are some top tips we will cover to help you prepare for your degree.

Catch Up on missed Kickstart information

If you are not able to attend Kickstart (occurring in the second week), don’t worry – MQ has developed the handy online module ‘MAC2025' to catch you up on the most important information. You are responsible for catching up on any information you have missed. Access the MAC2025 iLearn module.

Access Wellbeing support if needed

Don’t wait until your first major exam stress kicks in! If you’ve struggled with your studies in the past but have not accessed support before, be sure to learn about the many personal support options Macquarie has available to help you, such as our free Counselling and Welfare Service. If you feel you need extra support to complete your assessments, you should also look into Accessibility Support, who can look at authorising reasonable adjustments for your assessments if required.

Make the most of the Learning Skills support available to you

Take advantage of Macquarie's many academic support services to assist with your studies. During your first study period, consider the following options:

  • Receive help with your assignments via StudyWISE
  • Discuss assignments and/or study issues with peer volunteers via WriteWISE
  • Gain individual support and feedback on academic writing 24/7 from Studiosity
  • Participate in a Writing Centre workshop and develop specific academic skills
  • Check out the Numeracy Centre and take advantage of their free drop-in service and weekly workshops.
