Study at another Australian university

If you’re currently admitted to an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at an Australian higher education provider, you can undertake nominated Macquarie units which will count toward that award at your home institution.

Applicants will be permitted to enrol in a unit or units of study provided that:

  • the relevant unit convenor considers the applicant to have fulfilled any prerequisites
  • enrolment places and facilities are available.

Who can apply

You can participate in the cross-institution program if:

  • you’re a domestic student (ie an Australian citizen or permanent resident)
  • you’ll remain admitted at your home institution within Australia whilst enrolled at Macquarie
  • the unit/s that you wish to enrol count for credit towards your award at your home institution

Note: undergraduate students can only apply for undergraduate units, and postgraduate students can only apply for postgraduate units.

You are NOT eligible for the cross-institution program if you are:

  • suspended from your home institution (until or unless you are reinstated)
  • a postgraduate research student (in a Research Training Program) looking to undertake coursework studies
  • a current Macquarie University student wishing to study units at another Australian higher education provider.
  • an international student. Instead, consider non-award studies.

Undergraduate students

If, at your home institution, you are a:

  • Domestic fee-paying student, you will be allocated a domestic fee-paying place in Macquarie’s undergraduate cross-institution program. If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident (humanitarian visa), you will be eligible for FEE-HELP, providing you have not exceeded your HELP limit.

Note that student contribution amounts (for commonwealth-supported students) and tuition fees (for domestic fee-paying students) may vary from those charged by your home institution.

See more information about undergraduate Commonwealth supported students. Undergraduate domestic fee-paying students should contact nonaward@mq.edu.au for further information on unit fees.

Postgraduate students

Postgraduate students will be allocated domestic fee-paying places in Macquarie’s postgraduate cross-institution program by default.

There are no Commonwealth-supported places available for postgraduate cross-institution students. If you are an Australian citizen or permanent resident (humanitarian visa), you will be eligible for FEE-HELP, providing you have not exceeded your HELP limit.

See more information about postgraduate domestic fee-paying students.
