Giving back to the community

Volunteering is actively encouraged because it involves you in programs that benefit the University and the community, while adding to your experience and personal growth.

Macquarie offers many opportunities to get involved in volunteering.

Macquarie University Buddy Program

Become a Buddy and help other students settle into life at Macquarie University. This volunteering opportunity is open to current students with experience at Macquarie, to provide support for fellow students who may be new or continuing, domestic or international.

As a Buddy:

  • we will provide training to help you deliver ongoing social support through peer relationships
  • you will also be a helping hand for social events organised during the session, on and off campus

Macquarie University Peer Mentors

Are you a second year or above student who is interested in developing your leadership skills?

As a Peer Mentor, you'll be trained to use your personal experience as a student to provide first-year students with support and guidance as they navigate their first year of uni.

Mentoring refugees - LEAP

LEAP mentoring is a unique mentoring program for high school students from refugee backgrounds.

Global Leadership Program

Want to gain leadership skills whilst enhancing your awareness of global issues?

The Global Leadership Program is a co-curricular volunteer program where you can develop your leadership skills, professional competency and knowledge of international issues.
