I know how hard it can be to get used to a new routine when restarting your studies, so check out these tips to get ready for a new study session!

No matter how long you have been studying, going back to uni after a break always requires some preparation.

We have gathered some tips to help you get ready for a new academic session so you can start on the right foot:

  • Clean your workspace: this not only includes your desk but your computer desktop and downloads file. A tidier space will help you feel less stressed and on top of your game.
  • Create folders for each unit: file management is key for your studies. By creating folders for your units, you will know where everything is and will surely be more efficient.
  • Check the syllabuses of your units: make sure to check your unit descriptions in the Handbook and the unit guides so you can have a clear idea of the workload you will have during the session.
  • Get your calendar ready: your unit guides will also have information on assignment and exam dates, so you can register them in your calendar and make sure you won’t forget them from the very beginning.
  • Readjust your sleeping schedule: after the school break, it is time to resume your good sleeping habits. Start going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier a few days before the start of session so you are well rested for your morning classes.
  • Take some ‘me’ time: before assignments start coming your way, take some time to treat yourself and relax. Self-care is very important to keep you balanced and a great way to enter the new session is by re-energising. Your body and mind will thank you.
  • Get support if you need it: Macquarie is with you every step of the way towards obtaining your degree. Take some time to explore our support resources so you know where to look for help with your study or your personal life. We’ve got you covered!

What’s the best tip we can give you? Start this new session with optimism and take it one step at a time!
