Short Term Exchange - Universidad Adolfo Ibanez (July)
Chile is one of the most southern cultural, political and geographical societies of the American continent, an attractive country with a complex interaction of languages, communities, arts, sciences and technologies, among other perspectives. This Summer University program at Adolfo Ibañez University explores Chilean society as a participant in the dilemmas and perspectives opened by social demands for new cultural, political, and economic standards according to a modern and democratic society in the 21st century. It will take place in beautiful Viña del Mar and the fee is inclusive of the tuition, internal transfers, site visits and program materials. 1) Chile Today: Urbanism and Environment
"Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable" (SDG 11). This urgent measure of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations guides the thematic itinerary and practical experiences of this module. In direct relation, the program explores interdisciplinary socio-environmental and urban dilemmas and challenges in Chile today, focusing on new models of sustainable habitability for environmental protection. In this area, regional cases of "sacrifice zones" associated with the dysfunctional relationship between Industry, Cities, and Nature are studied and observed.
2) Chile Today: Science and Innovation - The Contribution of Agriculture, Mining and Marine Science
This module focuses on Chile's industrial, agricultural and mining development, with special emphasis on its historical background, and the current state of its economic and technological development. It also seeks to explore the political, scientific and environmental aspects in relation to the dilemmas and challenges of a sustainable industry in the protection of nature and the beings that compose it. The perspectives provided by the Arts and Education, especially aimed at generations of children and young people, are an essential part of the practical experiences, in the desire of the United Nations SDG: "Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development" (SDG 14).

Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following:
- Student Mobility Team General Eligibility Criteria
- Nomination from Macquarie University
- English language proficiency for non-native speakers
- Review the course information and restricted courses to check it is suitable for your degree progression at Macquarie University

Application Fee and Payment Options: For all exchange programs (semester and short term), there is a compulsory application fee. For more information and payment options please refer to the Payment website.
Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas. More information will be given to students upon acceptance.
Program Costs: You remain enrolled at Macquarie University and continue to pay your tuition fees to Macquarie University. As an exchange student, you pay no tuition fees to the host university. However, you must also always be prepared for unexpected expenses and should consider how you will be dealing with the expenses of your exchange before you leave your home country. Prior to departure, you will need to save sufficient funds to cover all of your expenses for the duration of your exchange. Some costs to consider include: airfares, students visa (if required), travel health insurance, accommodation, food, additional travel, entertainment, textbooks, and incidental expense. If you wish to work while you are away, it is important to note that work rights for international students vary from country to country. For further information about your visa restrictions please contact the consulate or embassy of your host country.
