Macquarie University Study Abroad Scholarship

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

• Have met the Macquarie University Study Abroad academic and English requirements for the course and hold a full offer of admission of a Study Abroad program by the application deadline.
• Have a minimum GPA of 5.0 out of 7.0 for postgraduate programs or ATAR equivalent of 90 out of 100 for undergraduate programs.
• Have applied for a 4-unit Study Abroad Program.
• Have applied for a course which has a full-time study load.
• Commence study in the session and year indicated in their offer of the Scholarship. Commencement may not be deferred.
• Be nominated by the Study Abroad Coordinator Macquarie International.

You are not eligible if:

• You're currently enrolled in a Macquarie University 4-unit Study Abroad program.
• You've completed the same level or a higher level of study previously.
• You're in receipt of another equivalent or major award or scholarship from Macquarie University or their partners.
• You have applied for a program that is not a Study Abroad program at Macquarie University.
• You're enrolled at Macquarie City Campus or Macquarie University International College (MUIC).

How to apply

Step 1: Candidates must apply to their Study Abroad program at Macquarie University.

Step 2: Once applicants have received their full course offer, they must then complete an online scholarship application form and type “Study Abroad” in the Scholarship Name field.

Step 3: After filling the online application, candidates need to send a personal statement to the Macquarie Abroad Team of Macquarie International at mi.studyabroad@mq.edu.au. In your statement, please focus on the definition of culture, what you are excited to discover while studying abroad and how you think this experience will benefit you (personally, academically and professionally).

The personal statement can be either written or in the form of a video, please see the detailed requirements below.

Written statement:

• File Format: PDF or Word Document.
• Document font type and size: Arial 10
• Document length: No more than 300 words
• Each student can only submit 1 statement and application

Video statement:

• Video length: no longer than 2 minutes
• Upload onto YouTube and submit the link
• Each student can only submit 1 statement and application

Step 4: Only applications whom have submitted both an application and a personal statement will be assessed. An outcome will be communicated to the candidate within 2 to 4 weeks after receiving the personal statement. Please ensure that you apply online and email your personal statement within the same day to avoid disappointment.
