Support for students

Macquarie University is committed to supporting the success of all our students.

The following information details the support provided to students to assist them to complete successfully the courses and programs in which they are enrolled. In providing this support, the University adheres to the following key principles and requirements:

Providing support to students is a requirement of the Higher Education Support Act (2003). The information provided here and in the Support for Students Policy exemplifies our compliance with paragraph 19-43(2)(b) of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

Macquarie monitors the progress of all students towards successful completion of their course.

Academic progress is based on the successful completion of units of study that contribute towards the completion of a course.

Individual students identified as potentially not succeeding with their studies are referred to academic and/ or other support services and resources.

The experience and success of specific student groups is also monitored to inform the provision of support and services to meet their specific needs.

Macquarie University offers academic support to help students develop the academic language and skills needed to succeed in their studies. This may include peer support and/or mentoring.

Reasonable academic adjustments may be implemented where a student’s academic progress is affected by non-academic issues.
