There are a variety of services and support available to keep you well, safe and protected while living in Australia

If you’re sick and need to see a doctor, contact the Macquarie University Clinic at +61 (2) 9812 3944 to book an appointment.

Outside clinic hours, the closest doctor is at the Macquarie Medical Centre.

International students are covered by OSHC, but remember to bring your membership card with you when you visit the doctor. You can request your OSHC membership card from your provider’s website as soon as you arrive in Australia. If you don't have your OSHC card, you’ll need to pay when you see a doctor. You can request a receipt when you pay and then lodge a claim with your provider later.

Health Cover

As an international student in Australia, you are also required to have overseas student health cover (OSHC) for the duration of your studies in Australia. You can find more information on the university’s website about OSHC.

The NSW Government also has a hub for international students, where you can find information about healthcare in Australia as an international student, including topics like sexual and reproductive health, OSHC, the Australian healthcare system, contraception, and more.

If you want to access free legal advice in person, you can call Redfern Legal Centre on +61 (2) 9698 7645 to make an appointment.
