Requesting to replace your testamur
Each graduate can only have one testamur in circulation for the awarded degree, therefore a replacement testamur is only available under specific circumstances.
You can only order a replacement testamur if:
- your original testamur has been lost, stolen or damaged or,
- your name has changed since graduating
If you never received your original testamur (for example you didn't attend your graduation ceremony), first review the graduating in absentia information as your testamur may still be held at Macquarie.
How to request a replacement
Prepare the following documents:
- A fully completed Statutory Declaration to verify that your testamur was either lost/destroyed or never received (you must use these templates otherwise your application will be rejected)
- Valid copy (ie. not expired) of identification that shows your signature (driver’s licence, passport, etc)
Then:
- Email graduation@mq.edu.au with both your documents attached.
- Ensure your statutory declaration has been signed by an appropriate witness (listed on page 2 of the required templates). See how to complete a statutory declaration overseas below.
- Once the Graduation Team receives your email and documents, they will send you a payment link.
- Please make payment promptly to finalise your request.

Please refer to this government website for the requirements for getting an approved or qualified witness overseas: Making a Commonwealth statutory declaration overseas (Attorney-General's Department).
There are three main options you may take:
- You may have your statutory declaration signed in person while overseas by: a Notary Public, an Australian Consulate official, or an approved witness who has a connection to Australia.
- An Australian registered professional (from the list provided on page 2 of the Statutory Declaration template) witnessing remotely. The witness should record what video conferencing tool was used (eg. Zoom) in Section 10.
- Digital Commonwealth statutory declaration on My Gov (you do not need a witness).
