Gaining industry experience through PACE
Learn about how our Work Integrated Learning program contributes to enhancing learning and getting ready to join the workforce.
Work integrated learning and industry experience is an essential part of all undergraduate degrees and most postgraduate degrees at Macquarie University. We do this through our flagship program called PACE – Professional and Community Engagement.
In an authentic workplace activity, you will:
- put theory into practice
- make a difference for an industry partner
- firm up your career plans
- build your network
- get constructive feedback and advice from PACE partners, and if you’re lucky …
- secure paid employment.
PACE activities come in different shapes and sizes - it might be an internship, placement or an industry project that is presented and reviewed by an external partner. There are fantastic outcomes for students, partners and academics through PACE, including global opportunities that will broaden your horizons.
To help you take charge and design your own work integrated learning experience, some PACE units let you find your own activity. These activities are referred to as student proposed.
It’s important that you find an activity that meets the learning outcomes of your unit and is also relevant to your career goals. Follow these steps to learn more about the requirements, how to find your own activity, and how to get it approved.
