Take a break and nurture your mind and body

Try some mindfulness activities to give yourself the best chance to succeed.

Deep breath in and exhale. Again. What do you feel?

Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on the present moment through awareness of your thoughts, feelings, body, and the surrounding environment. By practicing mindfulness, it can help:

  • decrease stress and anxiety
  • improve focus and concentration
  • enhances feelings of gratitude and contentment.

Incorporating mindfulness in your daily life

You can achieve mindfulness through various activities and practices, such as meditation, walking, journaling, snacking, and breathing.

Mindful eating is all about paying attention to your food and the experience of eating in the present moment. It involves slowing down during meals, savouring flavours and textures, and listening to your hunger and fullness cues. Mindful eating helps you develop a healthy relationship with food and fostering a sense of wellbeing.

Mindful movement is about focusing your attention on your body’s sensations – mind, body connection – rather than going through the motions. It can include yoga, walking, or taking deep breaths.

Mindfulness of emotions is becoming aware of your emotions without judgement – observing with curiosity and acceptance, acknowledging what you are currently feeling. Let it move through you without resisting, struggling against it, or encouraging it.
