Find friends with the same interests

We have more than 130 affiliated student clubs and societies at Macquarie, including social, faculty, humanitarian, and political groups.

If you're athletically-inclined, there are also 17 sporting groups to choose from.

Join a group

Joining one of our affiliated student groups is a great way to connect with new people who share common passions, interests or unique hobbies. It's also a great way to develop your leadership, communication, and time management skills.

Start a group

If you can't find a group that caters to your interests, you can always create a new one informally. Consider some of our criteria if you want to become affiliated with us:

  • your group must be unique
  • you must have a minimum of 20 members with 75 per cent as currently enrolled Macquarie students
  • draft a plan of your group's events and activities for the coming semester.

As an affiliated group, you can have access to Macquarie University resources, funding and administrative support!

Book a space

We have a number of diverse spaces available to cater to your student group's activities and events.

Each student group's Client Liaison Officer (CLO) can book things like rooms, campus spaces, equipment (eg bbqs, tables, speakers) and any other resources that you may need for your events.

All official student group events at Macquarie must be booked through an Events/Activities Request form and with three to four weeks notice. The earlier you put in your request, the more likely your event or activity will be approved with ample time for you to organise!

Contact your CLO to book your event or see what open spaces are available at MAZE for your next student group meeting.
