Need help understanding your tax obligations?

The Tax Help Program is a free service that supports eligible students with lodging their Australian tax returns.

Whether you're completing your first tax return or simply need guidance through the process, our trained Tax Help volunteers are here to make tax time easier, less stressful and more accessible.

How can the Tax Help Program help you?

Our volunteers can assist with:

  • setting up a myGov account
  • preparing and lodging simple tax returns through myTax
  • lodging tax return amendments
  • claiming a refund of franking credits
  • notifying the ATO when you do not need to lodge a tax return.

Who are the Tax Help volunteers?

Tax Help volunteers are current Macquarie University students who have completed specialised training to assist fellow students with their tax-related enquiries. They are committed to helping students better understand their tax obligations and navigate the Australian tax system with confidence.
