Requirements for professional experience unit
Mandatory checks are prerequisites for professional experience placements. They ensure your compliance with compulsory legal obligations.
- Apply for a WWCC number online and visit a Service NSW Centre to present your original identity documents.
- Once you have received your WWCC number, complete the Working with Children Check (WWCC) Acknowledgement on iParticipate under the “Forms” tab.
Early childhood students – go to Education NSW portal and register or login.
Primary and secondary students – you must first complete Pre-Service Teacher Registration (PST) and create a PST account. Refer to the instructions under Pre-Service Teacher Registration below.
Once logged in, you can access and complete the CPAT training module. This training only needs to be completed once.
Save your certificate of completion and upload to iParticipate.
Complete Work Health and Safety on iParticipate under the “Forms” tab.
Complete Professional Experience Code of Conduct on iParticipate under the “Forms” tab.
Additional checks for primary and/or secondary placements
Refer to the instructions under 'Pre-Service Teacher Registration' before you start the rest of the following mandatory checks below.
All primary or secondary students must complete the online Pre-service Teacher (PST) Registration Form. During the registration process, you will be prompted to create a PST account so you can access the relevant mandatory training modules listed below.
Follow this step-by-step guide.
Use your PST username (created during the PST Registration process) to log into the Department of Education portal. You only need to complete the training once.
- Log into the Staff Portal from NSW Government - Education
- Scroll down to MyPL on right hand side of page and select
- Search for "Aboriginal Cultural Education" or select "Mandatory Training" from the top menu
- Select, enrol into and launch the relevant training module
- Save your certificate of completion and upload to iParticipate

- Log into the Staff Portal from NSW Government - Education
- Scroll down to MyPL on right hand side of page and select
- Search for "Anti-racism policy" or select "Mandatory Training" from the top menu
- Select, enrol into and launch the relevant training module
- Save your certificate of completion and upload to iParticipate
This new mandatory training module will be available in MyPL from Friday 31 January 2025. You only need to complete the training once.
- Log into the Staff Portal from NSW Government - Education
- Scroll down to MyPL on right hand side of page and select
- Search for "Code of ethics and conduct" or select "Mandatory Training" from the top menu
- Select, enrol into and launch the relevant training module
- Save your certificate of completion and upload to iParticipate
- Complete ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training.
- Save your unsigned certificate of completion with expiry date.
- Validate your certificate at the school once you have demonstrated the correct use of a trainer EpiPen.
- Complete this training every two years and upload to iParticipate accordingly.
- You must meet LANTITE standard and have a Satisfactory result recorded for EDST2999 (undergraduate) or EDST8999 (postgraduate) prior to enrolment into your fourth year professional experience unit in undergraduate degree, or final one in postgraduate.
- Undergraduate TES – must meet prior to EDST4030 Primary and EDST4010 Secondary
- Postgraduate – TES must meet prior to EDST8240
- Go to ACER and iLearn for information on LANTITE test window dates and resources.
- Complete Pre-service teacher acknowledgement form prior to placement.
- Submit this acknowledgement form to your placement school.
- Complete NESA Requirements Self Check Qualtrics Survey before your EDST3501 placement.
- Take a screenshot of outcome (final page on the survey).
- Upload the screenshot to ‘NESA Requirement Self-Check’ under the ‘Checks’ tab on iParticipate.
