Steps for changing courses

Current process

During the Course Transfer process, you may notice changes to your eStudent account. To facilitate the processing of your Course Transfer, your access to a number of functions in eStudent will be removed.

If you meet all criteria and are successful, once your Course Transfer is complete, you will receive an email notification advising that your eStudent access has been restored to enable unit enrolment and registration in classes.

If successful, the current Course Transfer process consists of the following four stages:

  1. Your current admitted course will be discontinued.
    • Any future enrolment will be withdrawn.
    • It is your responsibility to re-enrol in units and re-register in classes in your new degree once the transfer is processed.
  2. You will be admitted into the newest curriculum for your chosen course and you will have a new WAM which will be calculated only from units undertaken within your new course. Find out more about how your WAM is calculated.
  3. Where applicable, previously passed units within your old degree will be transferred to your new course. Failed or withdrawn units will not be transferred, but they will remain on your transcript under your previous admission.
  4. Recognition of Prior Learning from non-Macquarie studies (including SIBT) will not be re-applied to your new course. You will need to re-apply for Recognition of Prior Learning to have this credit re-assessed for your new course. Note that any credit you have received from a completed Bachelor degree at Macquarie will also need to be re-applied for through the Recognition of Prior Learning process.

If unsuccessful, you will be notified by email of the outcome. This email will include the specific eligibility or requirement criteria that have not been met. If you have any questions you will need to submit an AskMQ enquiry.
