Employability programs, events and workshops

Macquarie University hosts several career events throughout the year to help students connect with potential employers.

Throughout the year, we offer an assortment of in-person and virtual:

  • presentations (including topics on assessment centres, career planning, effective job searching and interview skills)
  • webinars
  • panels
  • networking events.

These events give you the opportunity to speak with recruiters, hiring managers and employed graduates about career opportunities related to your degree. Some of our faculty and industry events and panels feature employer partners who are looking to hire students.

View and register for our events through Employability Connect.

Attending an event

Be prepared for our upcoming events by following our guidance below.

Dress professionally, eg in a suit or smart casual attire.

Smile and show genuine interest in what organisations have to offer, and network with other attendees and partners.

To improve your networking skills:

Consider your strengths and skills and practice your elevator pitch, which should be a short introduction of:

  • yourself
  • your academic background
  • your work history
  • why you are interested in this company’s positions/offerings.

Learn about the participating organisations eg look at the employers’ websites and LinkedIn profiles.

Make sure your résumé is ready to send to employers of interest.
