About PACE and your degree program
Completing a PACE unit is a compulsory requirement for all undergraduate bachelor degrees at Macquarie University. Typically, it is completed in the second or third year of your study. To learn more about the PACE program, its benefits, and how it works, visit:
Finding your PACE unit
Macquarie Business School (MQBS) provides a range of PACE units across its undergraduate degrees. Your required PACE unit may be easily identified in your study plan, or you may need to choose your PACE unit from a set of options listed in the core zone of your course structure. Ensure you follow the course requirements as specified in the University Handbook for the year of your admission.

Each PACE unit operates differently and has its own unique activity requirements. These requirements may include:

Finding your own PACE activity
Finding your own placement is a great way to gain experience in an area or with an organisation that interests you. Here's how you can do it, along with some tips to help you on the way:
- Visit the PACE site on Employability Connect: Here you’ll find tips on finding your own PACE activity.
- Find an activity that meets the learning outcome of your PACE unit and your career goals: Look into available resources and consider contacting potential host organizations to find the right activity for you.
- Check out internal job boards: Look for roles suitable for PACE units on our internal job boards such as PACE Current Opportunities, Careers, and MQ Student Employment.
- Get help with your job application: For tips on applying for jobs, as well as help with your resume and cover letter, visit our Careers site or see the team at Learning Connect on the ground floor at 18 Wally’s Walk.
- Get academic credit for your experience: If you find your own internship or are already working in your field of study, you could earn academic credit for this through the PACE unit MQBS3000. For more information on how, visit the MQBS3000 PACE information page. Postgraduate students can explore MQBS8090: Business Internship, which is the postgraduate equivalent to MQBS3000.
Double degrees and PACE
If you are studying a double degree or have a double major, you may need to complete more than once PACE unit. Check your PACE requirements and course structure using the Double Degree Advising Tool for the year of your admission.
