Sky Park, Sydney FC's training base to open on campus

24 May, 2021

Macquarie University Sports Fields will be home to the Sydney FC Elite Centre of Excellence which will bring all club operations under one roof, encouraging participation in sports.

This new construction will bring benefits for Macquarie's sporting community, students and researchers, who will have access to the facility for training, teaching and development.

Sky Park will provide training facilities for the club’s Sky Blues A-League, Westfield W-League and Academy teams, and is expected to be completed by June 2022.

Design for the new Sky Park consisting of a large building in the middle surrounded by four fields, a pool and several trees.

[This project] will not only provide a world-class facility that will encourage sporting participation in our community, but will open up new collaborations with our health sciences centre MQ Health, opportunities for student athletes and student work experience, and research and development partnerships.

The development will include high-tech training and medical facilities, with gender-inclusive change rooms, adjoining hot and cold aquatic recovery pools and amenities, plus a multi-purpose lecture theatre.

Sydney FC Centre of Excellence is being partially funded by the NSW Government that aims to establish integrated high-performance training, administration and community facilities to improve talent development pathways, provide female friendly facilities and expand community programs. The sports fields will continue to be owned and operated by Macquarie University.
