Class registrations temporarily suspended

30 June 2021

Registration for both online and in-person classes have been paused in light of the current public health situation.

Macquarie University's Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor S Bruce Dowton, has made an announcement on 29 June regarding class registrations for Session 2, 2021. Macquarie's COVID-19 Taskforce has decided to momentarily pause class registrations given the current lockdown in New South Wales.

Although class registrations are suspended, commencing and continuing students can still enrol in courses and units.

The Vice-Chancellor stated that the University will use this time to consider how restrictions may affect teaching and learning in Session 2 which is due to commence on 26 July.

The University hopes that lockdown restrictions will be lifted by NSW Health after 9 July 2021. However, Macquarie is also aware of the possibility of further lockdown or additional public health restrictions, which could affect the return to face-to-face teaching. That is why class registration has been suspended in order to take appropriate measures based on the evolution of the current situation.

As a way of supporting students during the current lockdown, the Library will reinstate their click and collect service starting 1 July.

The University will inform all students of how current restrictions evolve, how this may affect teaching and of new dates for class registration.

You can read the announcement which has been sent to all student email accounts.
