First place winning poster designThe Harmony Day Design Competition allowed our community to submit their artwork and they definitely delivered!

For Macquarie’s 2021 Harmony Week, students and staff were encouraged to show what belonging to Macquarie means to them through their creative skills.

The Design Competition selection panel was made up of members of the Student Engagement team. Different aspects were considered in the selection criteria, including design, message, and the explanation of the poster.

These are the winners of the design competition:

1st Place - Celine Decella Atmadja

Bachelor of Commerce

Here’s how Celine described her poster design:

"Different colours stand for students with different backgrounds can stand out in Macquarie. 'You' resemblance from Macquarie's tagline, 'You to the power of us'”.

2nd Place - Khadija Tul Kubra

Bachelor of Commerce

This is Khadija’s description of her design:

“My design conveys the message that we are incomplete without each other. Every identity is unique, which cherishes its own traditions and cultures, and they should be highly respected. As Macquarie abides by this idea, every individual plays its role with their whole heart to make Macquarie a beautiful picture proudly fitting every puzzle piece by piece. In other words, culture by culture.”

3rd Place - Sufiya Naqvi

Bachelor of Arts

Sufiya described her design like this:

“My design includes my definition of Belonging & why I think Belonging is important. My design looks pretty with different colours & symbols. I included a human chain as that is a typical symbol of belonging but a symbol that simply captures the idea of unification. My design is intended to send the message of Belonging in a straightforward & pretty way."
