Adobe Creative Cloud available in all computer labs

As a Macquarie student, you can access the Adobe Creative Cloud platform on any of the computer labs on campus. Creative Cloud provides a digital makerspace with access to many applications to support your learning.

Enabling access to the Creative Cloud platform for all students on campus is a result of the partnership between Adobe and Macquarie University.

You will be able to make the most of your digital creations by using cutting edge software such as Photoshop, Rush, Spark, Lightroom, and Illustrator, among others. This access will help students develop creativity and digital literacy skills, improving employability and ensuring a deeper learning experience.

Special benefits for students from the Faculty of Arts

Extended anytime/anywhere access to the Creative Cloud Platform is available to Faculty of Arts students who are enrolled in selected units with a digital assessment component. This will certainly have a positive impact on their studies and their future careers in the emerging digitally-enabled world of work.

The implementation of this initiative is the result of the efforts of the Faculty of Arts, who have been working on this since last year.

In 2020 we ran a limited pilot of the toolset for students in selected units of study during the COVD-19 pandemic, reaching around 1500-2000 students. In 2021 we are expanding this partnership and we expect about 8,500 students to get the benefits of these tools in 2021.

Digilab demonstrations and drop-in sessions

As the objective is for students to get the most of the Creative Cloud suite, you will also be able to access on-campus support in a specially designed space - Digilab.

The Digilab is a brand new laboratory located in the new Arts Precinct where students from all faculties can use the Adobe platform. All students can come for demonstrations and drop-in sessions provided by Student Adobe Champions.

The Digilab caters for students who may not have their own device, hence ensuring equitable access to Adobes tools. There is a lounge area outside the lab for informal catch-ups, and we hope this space can become a student-centred knowledge transfer space with Adobe specialist student champions running 'How-to with Adobe' workshops.

Students have been using the Adobe platforms and benefiting from them.

Marybeth Dela Cruz, who is currently studying Bachelor of Arts and Business Administration, majoring in Public Relations and Social Media used Premier to create a video for one of her assignments. She experienced first-hand how this software allows obtaining professional, high-quality results.

"I like how many functions I can do, I can really make videos really professional without that much work or that much past experience", said Marybeth after using the software.

On the impact this toolset could have in her career, she was quick to point out how it will benefit her professional development: "Since I'm doing Public Relations and Social Media, it's great to create content. In the future, I'll be using Photoshop illustrator and all the other platforms to create more content."

This is just part of the results that this long-term partnership will bring to the academic community, as mentioned by Adobe's Sasha McQuaid: "This partnership will see Adobe and Macquarie work together to develop innovation across the curriculum, and to help optimise the Macquarie student experience."
