Macquarie students and alumni at the Tokyo Olympics
Six of our athletes are currently in Tokyo representing Australia at the Olympic Games.
We are extremely proud of the Macquarie students and alumni representing Australia at the Tokyo Olympics. These brave and talented athletes will be showing what they are made of as part of the Australian Olympics Team during the Summer Olympic Games from 23 July to 8 August and The Paralympic Games from 24 August to 5 September.
In addition to these competitors, student James Boyer will also participate in the Olympics by officiating basketball events.
The good news started coming from the very beginning as Cate Campbell – who had the honour of being the flag bearer at the inauguration – claimed Australia’s first gold medal alongside her team members in the women’s 4x100m relay competition. They have not only won a gold medal for their country but have done so in a world record time: 3:29.69 seconds, making them the first team ever to go under 3:30.
We cannot wait to continue watching our competitors giving their all in the different competitions still to come. Find out when their events will take place, include potential finals and medal events.
