English Speaking Club (ESC) Program

English Speaking Club (ESC) Program

English Speaking Club is designed for international students who want to enhance their conversational English skills. It's a social, fun and relaxed setting where everyone is encouraged to talk, share their experiences, practice their speaking, develop confidence to talk in public and successfully interact with others. From 30 Apr 2020 we have moved to online sessions via Zoom.

Why join?

You’ll meet new people virtually online and make new friends while you practise your English and become a more confident communicator. Weekly ESC sessions aim to prepare you for presentations, practise valuable interview skills, understand how to apply communication strategies to team environments and enables you to discover how to network effectively.

As a bonus, undergraduate students get 10 GLP points for participation if they attend all ESC sessions across all weeks. Postgraduate students are welcome to attend, but not eligible for GLP points.

Want to get involved?

The program starts in week 2 and continues until week 10. To get full benefit from the program we encourage you to participate in all sessions.

The program is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students. There is no cost and no need to book –  just join our online zoom meeting at the day/time below.

To enable more participants to benefit from the program we deliver 2 sessions a week. Each session covers the same content including:

  • cultural exchange
  • presentation skills
  • job searching
  • preparing for job interviews
  • networking and meeting people, and
  • assessment centre practice
