Reporting academic misconduct

Academic misconduct is an attempt to gain an unfair advantage in an assessment by breaching the principles of the Academic Integrity Policy.

You can notify Macquarie of incidents involving academic misconduct. You can also make a complaint about a service or experience or provide feedback to help us improve.

Academic and research activities and actions that are unacceptable include, but are not limited to:

  • Cheating
  • Unauthorised collaboration in producing an academic exercise
  • Plagiarism
  • Providing misleading or false information and/or results
  • Fabrication
  • Impersonation
  • Obstruction and/or sabotage
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Failure to manage risk to the safety of research participants
  • Conducting research without ethics approval
  • Not disclosing conflicts of interest
  • Falsification of misinterpretation

Advice and support

Student Advocacy and Support Service provides independent support and advice regarding your options to make or respond to an allegation of misconduct. To contact Advocacy submit a Student CARE MQ Referral form > select “Advocacy Support” as the reason for referral.

If you are required to respond to an allegation of misconduct, you can get advice and support from student advocacy and support team.
