It's orientation!

The best way to be ready to start with us is attending your orientation, or O Week (Orientation Week).

O Week runs the week before session starts and it’s a series of welcomes, events, workshops and informative activities designed to make sure you're prepared to get a great start with us.

Session 1, 2022

If you're starting with us in Session 1, 2022 your orientation will be held from Monday 14 to Friday 18 February.

We will be having events running all year long where you can meet people, find out about support services and opportunities, and experience all MQ has to offer. Find out what's on, and keep an out for your student newsletter - The Feed - for your latest student news each week to your inbox.

What to expect

Orientation is all about getting to know your university. You’ll be able to:

  • Get important information about your course and how it will be taught
  • Meet people - peers and academics from your course, people from your town/country, people you'll be spending time with over the next few years
  • Join student groups, clubs or societies and connect with a Peer Mentor
  • Find out about the many services, support and facilities to help you succeed in your studies
  • Explore your Macquarie student life by connecting with the community at our online networking events, without the pressure of attending classes

Tips

  • You'll be invited to Orientation about two weeks before the start of session so make sure you check and read your emails.
  • Register for and attend your faculty/course orientations. We also recommend you pick one activity from each category above to make the most of the week
  • If you can’t make the sessions live, they should be recorded and will be made available right here after O Week ends
  • The fun doesn’t stop at O Week – keep up-to-date with student events and promotions all year round
  • Join the Macquarie University Mentor Network and connect with a Peer Mentor – they're your students in the know and can answer any questions you have about life at MQ.
