Macquarie University provides Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students access to a range of online resources via iLearn and subscription-based video tutorials to help develop their academic writing skills.
HDR Learning Skills iLearn unit
Use your Macquarie OneID to self-enrol in the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Learning Skills iLearn unit to access recordings and slides from HDR workshops and seminars which have been presented at Macquarie University. Announcements of new courses and workshops are also made from this unit.
A self-paced online unit
Use your Macquarie OneID to self-enrol into the Academic Literacy for Research Students online unit to access resources which will help improve your academic writing skills. While the focus of this unit is on writing in the social sciences, this content will also be useful to Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates in the humanities and sciences.

Online video tutorials
The Macquarie University Library holds a subscription to Lynda.com, a collection of thousands of "how to" video courses on all sorts of skills, many of which are useful for research candidates.
Each course is composed of several short (typically 3 to 8 minute) video tutorials, and is self paced, so you can schedule the tutorials around your research and teaching commitments.
