Women in STEM Financial Support Scholarship

In Session 2 2022, the Faculty of Science and Engineering is offering 25 financial support scholarships valued at $2000 each to support women in STEM.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must be:

  • enrolled in Session 2 2022.
  • studying an undergraduate or post graduate degree offered by the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and
  • a female-identifying student.

The scholarship is open to both domestic and international students. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are encouraged to apply.

Do I have to be studying full-time to apply?

No, you do not need to be studying full-time to apply for this scholarship. You must be enrolled in at least 1 unit in Session 2 2022 to apply.

I am an international student, can I apply?

Yes! This scholarship is open to domestic and international students who identify as a woman.

I haven’t decided if I am going to study in Session 2 2022

That’s ok! It can be difficult to make that decision depending on what other responsibilities you have right now. We would encourage you to apply and if you decide not to study in Session 2, then you can withdraw your application.

I have just started my degree in Session 2 2022, can I apply?

Absolutely! You must be enrolled in at least 1 unit in Session 2 2022 to apply.

Who will know that I have applied for this scholarship?

Your application is confidential and the details of your application will only be viewed by the team making the scholarship assessment. This means that any details shared in the application about the reasons for financial hardship will remain confidential.

If my application is successful, when will my scholarship payment be made?

Scholarship payments are made after the Census Date. For Session 2, payments will be made after Friday 19 August, once it is confirmed that you are enrolled.

How will you make the payment?

Successful applicants will be contacted via their student email account and asked to confirm their bank details so that an electronic funds transfer (EFT) can be arranged after the Session 2 Census Date.

Will I need any documentation to apply?

You will need to provide some documentation that shows you are experiencing financial hardship and/or need financial support. For example: evidence of Centrelink payments or bank statements.

Applications close at 9am, Wednesday 20 July.
