The Numeracy Drop-In Centre is located at 14 Sir Christopher Ondaatje Avenue, Room 188.
Room: 14 SCO 188 (Orange dot on a map).
The Drop-in Centre is open 5 days a week during the semester, and limited hours during the midsemester breaks and summer session.
During the semester we open from the beginning of week 2 and are open Monday- Friday for about 35 hours each week with the times varying according to the day. The Centre is also usually open one evening each week (this varies from semester to semester, please check the timetable).
What is Offered
The Drop-In Centre offers free individual help with the maths and stats component of any first-year subject. In particular, we help with all first-year mathematics units and a selection of first-year statistics units as well as offer some help with Physics. When the centre is open students may drop in for free maths-related help or in preparation for a future course. No appointment is necessary.
Our Centre is staffed by both permanent academic staff and casual tutors and help offered is in accordance with the expertise of each tutor. The expertise of each tutor is advertised on the timetable. No assignment questions will be answered, but students have access to a small library of mathematical books, material for self-study and professional help in the areas of greatest need.
Please come by and take a seat if you need help. No appointment is necessary. We would appreciate if you sign in at the front desk so that we can keep records on when and how the Numeracy Centre is used, which would help us in our funding.
A timetable is available from the Timetables page of our website. During exams and mid-semester breaks a different timetable may operate. The operating hours of the Centre in December, January and February are normally limited to a few hours each week. All details of our specific opening times can be found on the Timetables page of this website. Please feel free to email us if you need additional advice over the summer.
