Enrolling in units and choosing your classes

We've provided some guidance on how to enrol into your units and register for your classes below.

Before you enrol checklist

Before you enrol into any unit make sure you have planned out your enrolment and consider:

  • unit prerequisites (see course handbook)
  • unit availability
  • your unit load commitments (full-time domestic undergraduate and postgraduate students may consider doing 3 units instead of 4 units if they have work commitments).

Enrolling into units

Once you have chosen what units you would like to study during the session, enrol into your units via eStudent. You can seek eStudent help by visiting the eStudent page or viewing our eStudent video playlist.

An offering is composed of a study period, an attendance pattern, and a location of attendance. For example:

Attendance Patterns

Internal modes
Weekday attendance:Predominantly delivered face-to-face on a regular weekday basis over the duration of the study period.
Weekend attendance:Predominantly delivered face-to-face on a regular weekend basis over the duration of the study period.
Intensive attendance:Predominantly delivered face-to-face in an intensive mode in a sequence of days that may include weekends.
Special circumstances attendance:Unit content has been modified to be delivered face-to-face or online for students who choose to study online due to Covid-19. Unit will appear as "Day" in eStudent.
External modes
Infrequent attendance:Predominantly delivered online but with occasional attendance required.
Fully online/virtual:All unit requirements (including assessments) can be completed without in-person attendance. No on-campus attendance is required.
Attendance for exam only:As for fully online/virtual, but in-person attendance is required for the examination. This may be at North Ryde campus, or at an exam centre within Australia.

Enrolling means choosing your units to study in the first semester.

  1. Log in to eStudent and update your personal details.
  2. Click on 'My Enrolment'. If you cannot see this tab, it might be because you have a conditional acceptance (you have some documents pending). It will be activated as soon as you send all documents.
  3. Choose the relevant study plan (degree). This is very important if you have multiple offers.
  4. Choose the units you want to take this semester. Make sure to check your Course Handbook and our choosing units page to know whether:
    • you have met the pre-requisites
    • the unit is offered in the study period you wish to enrol in
    • the unit meets your course requirements.
  5. For each unit you want to choose, click on it and then click on 'enrol'.
  6. Click on 'My Classes'.
  7. Check the class timetables options available and choose the ones you want.
