Requests and eligibility for late enrolment

Students may be accepted for late enrolment if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Last date to enrol

Session 1 2024

Last date to enrol via eStudent for Session 1 is Sunday 3 March 2024. Late unit enrolment will open on Monday 4 March 2024, and it will close on Wednesday 6 March 2024. To submit a late enrolment request, please proceed to AskMQ.

Session 2 2024

Last date to enrol via eStudent for Session 2 is Sunday 4 August 2024. Late unit enrolment will open on Monday 5 August 2024, and it will close on Wednesday 7 August 2024.

Late unit enrolment request will not be accepted if received after the deadline.

However, unit reinstatement can only be considered and assessed up to the study period’s census date. Request must include an explanation for the initial withdrawal of the unit, along with supporting documentation demonstrating exceptional circumstances.

  • From Monday 5 February to 9am Thursday 8 February (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 9am Thursday 8 February to 12pm Friday 9 February (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Term 2

31 March

  • From Tuesday 2 April to 12pm Wednesday 3 April (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 12pm Wednesday 3 April to 12pm Friday 5 April (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Term 3

26 May

  • From Monday 27 May to 12pm Wednesday 29 May (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 12pm Wednesday 29 May to 12pm Friday 31 May (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Term 4

28 July

  • From Monday 29 July to 12pm Wednesday 31 July (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 12pm Wednesday 31 July to 12pm Friday 2 August (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Term 5

29 September

  • From Monday 30 September to 12pm Wednesday 2 October (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 12pm Wednesday 2 October to 12pm Friday 4 October (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Term 6

1 December

  • From Monday 2 December to 12pm Wednesday 4 December (week 1 of Term) MQC students can apply for two units of study; and
  • After 12pm Wednesday 4 December to 12pm Friday 6 December (week 1 of Term) MQC students can only apply for one unit of study.

Eligibility

  1. Late enrolment is only approved in exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Exceptional Circumstances are those circumstances that are beyond a student's control. Some examples that are not considered exceptional include:
    • Enrolling in a unit for the wrong session
    • Late or overdue fee payments that prevented on-time enrolment
    Some examples which may be considered exceptional include:
    • Administrative delay that prevented on-time enrolment, include reference numbers of open enquiries
    • Personal or family reasons
    • Illness or misadventure
    • Changing the attendance mode due to personal reasons ie weekday to fully online
    • Unit reinstatement has been requested within a 48-hour, request must include an explanation for the initial withdrawal of the unit, along with supporting documentation demonstrating exceptional circumstances.
  3. Supporting documentation must be provided with your application for late unit enrolment.
    Some examples of acceptable documentation include:
    • Medical Certificates
    • Statutory Declaration
    • Official letter from relevant authority
  4. Ensure the unit you are seeking Late Unit Enrolment for is ‘planned’ on your study plan (i.e., the unit/s fits within your current study plan). Your request will not be approved if the unit does not contribute to your admitted course.
  5. Ensure that you meet all prerequisites and/or co-requisites for the unit. Details of unit requirements are listed in the Handbook.

Important information

  • To withdraw from unit(s) without academic or financial penalty after you have been enrolled, do so via eStudent by the relevant census date.
  • Late Unit Enrolment cannot be considered unavoidable disruption for the purposes of Special Consideration, Withdrawal Without Academic or Financial Penalty. Make sure you have the capacity to catch up and undertake the unit you request for late enrolment.
