How do I prepare?

Make sure you do the following so that you don't miss out on opportunities there...

  • Bookmark this website read through the list of organisations attending and look out for new ones as we add them.
  • Visit the MQSE website familiarise yourself with any Happy Hour jobs posted by MQSE so you can be prepared when you meet the organisational representative.
  • Familiarise yourself with the organisations - this may include knowing if it’s part of a conglomerate, its location, and company vision. Hiring managers are impressed if you can show that you know about their organisation.
  • Know the roles available - what they are and what they involve.
  • If seeking immediate employment, print out your résumé - it’s important to present a professional résumé, so proofread it to ensure there are no spelling mistakes or any other flaws. Not all employers will ask for resumes on the day, but it’s good to be prepared.
  • Prepare questions for the organisational representative - This can save you from freezing on the spot during a conversation!
  • If you’re discussing potential PACE opportunities - have a good understanding of your PACE program so you can discuss it and answer questions.
  • Know your strengths - think about what valuable skills and personal qualities you can bring to an organisation and be able to talk about these with confidence.

What should I expect on the day?

2pm - registration opens, then from 2 till 4pm:

  • Meet directly with organisational representatives
  • Discuss job opportunities (casual work, summer jobs, internships, graduate employment)
  • Research organisations and graduate programs
  • Seek career advice from current industry professionals
  • Visit the Career Concierge for expert careers advice, on-the-spot resume and application tips
  • Enjoy Happy Hour activities

Jobs Happy Hour 2022

Go on a quick tour of our first Jobs Happy Hour, see the employers in attendance, and preview the engaging professional activities that we had.

What should I bring?

A great attitude!

We suggest bringing up to 3 resumes for targeted organisations. Please note that not all employers will collect resumes on the day, but it’s good to be prepared. You may be directed to MQSE to apply, the employer's website, or another platform. If you’re not seeking immediate employment, you don’t need to bring your resume.

Did you know you can store up to 5 versions of your resume in Employability Connect?

Will I get a job on the day?

Organisations are keen to recruit Macquarie students! They will ask you to follow their recruitment practice which will vary from company to company. Make sure you understand what these are and are clear about cut off dates for applications.

What happens when it’s all finished?

You can consider all the information you’ve been given, prepare your applications, or start to think about your career plan! You may be asked to provide feedback on the event to us. This is vital for the evaluation of the effectiveness and for the development of future careers activities.
