2020 GRADUATION COVID-19 FAQs
With current restrictions on travel and social distancing measures from the government due to COVID-19, the University has decided to suspend holding any graduation ceremonies in 2020 until further notice.
We look forward to a time where we can once again invite you to a graduation ceremony so you along with your peers, family and friends can join in the celebration of your wonderful achievements with Macquarie University. There may be some questions lingering in your mind and we will try to address some of these in our FAQs below:
Will I still be invited to a graduation ceremony in the future?
Yes, for all graduates* from 2020, once it is deemed safe by the government and University, a graduation invitation will be sent to your student email account 6-8 weeks prior to the ceremony date.
If you've completed a diploma at MUIC, you can find out more by contacting them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your student email account remains active indefinitely even after you have finished your degree.
*Excludes students who have completed a Certificate, Graduate Certificate or Postgraduate Certificate
Are overseas graduations also suspended?
Yes, our annual ceremonies in Hong Kong and Beijing will be rescheduled into the future.
Can I hire or purchase academic dress to take graduation photographs?

What happens to my graduation documents?
Students graduating in 2020 will receive their graduation documents electronically on My eQuals as well as hard copies. If you need the hard copies of your graduation documents before your graduation ceremony, just get in touch with us by email at email@example.com

Graduation celebration for our Master of Applied Finance cohort who completed in Melbourne
MUIC Certificate Ceremonies are held in May and October. Invitations to join these celebrations will be sent to your student email. For more information contact the College on 9850 5055 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Expect to complete
You should submit an I Expect to Complete form via ask.mq.edu.au in your final year of study, nominating when you want to be assessed for completion of your award.
Submitting this form does not guarantee that you will meet award requirements, it only ensures your record will be checked.
The University will not contact you if you do not meet the requirements of your award and your program status will remain as admitted.
You will be assessed for completion after the exam results are released.
If you meet all award requirements you will be qualified. A Completion Letter will be emailed to your student email address within 2 business days of qualifying.
Your Graduation Invitation will be sent to your student email account approximately six weeks before your graduation series. The invitation will address relevant information regarding your graduation ceremony.

*Please note that this may vary in 2020 (and possibly beyond) due to COVID19. Please check your student email address periodically as information will be sent once available regarding graduation ceremonies.
If you meet all award requirements you will be qualified. A Completion Letter will be emailed to your student email address within 2 business days of qualifying. This letter is a notification of your completion and will state the month and year your award will be conferred.
You will need to wait until you receive the Graduation Invitation for details of your ceremony as well as modifying your attendance in eStudent.
Your graduation is an exciting milestone - a memorable day to celebrate your time at Macquarie University and the completion of your course.
If you are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony, your Graduation Invitation will be sent to your @students.mq.edu.au email address approximately six weeks before your graduation series. The invitation will address relevant information regarding your graduation ceremony.
All undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree students (except students in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne and MUIC) who qualify for an award by 7 February 2020 will graduate, either in person or in absentia, at a graduation ceremony during April 2020. The Graduation Invitation confirming the date and time of the ceremony will be sent to your @students.mq.edu.au email address by the end of February 2020.*
*Please note that April 2020 graduation has been cancelled. Information on a graduation ceremony for students in this cohort will be sent to your student email account when available.
All undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree students (except students in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne and MUIC) who qualify for an award from 8 February to 9 July 2020 will graduate, either in person or in absentia, at a graduation ceremony during September 2020. The Graduation Invitation confirming the date and time of the ceremony will be sent to your @students.mq.edu.au email address in August 2020.**
**As graduations are now suspended for 2020, students who qualified between 8 February 2020 and 16 June 2020 had their degrees conferred on 25 June 2020, and students who are qualified between 17 June 2020 and 7 August 2020 will have their degrees conferred on 20 August 2020 and their digital graduation documents will be made available within 2 weeks after via the platform My eQuals. Please check your student email around this time to see when your digital documents are available and how to access them.
