ARRANGEMENTS - 2012

Property manages access to a study area for student use after the Library closes each night until 2am during teaching and examination periods. See detailed dates and times below.

The three rooms to be used for the After Hours Study on each night are:

  • C5C 236 (capacity 36) (quiet discussion permissible in this room)
  • C5C 238 (capacity 30) (quiet study room only, no discussion)
  • C5C 240 (capacity 30) (quiet study room only, no discussion)

 

Special Arrangement for Examination Periods

(13 to 17 February 2012, 09 June to 29 June 2012, 10 November to 30 November 2012)

  • Monday 10pm to 2am
  • Tuesday 10pm to 2am
  • Wednesday 10pm to 2am
  • Thursday 10pm to 2am
  • Friday 10pm to 2am
  • Saturday 6pm to 2am
  • Sunday 6pm to 2am

The room to be used for After Hours Study on each night is:

  • W5A T1 (Theatre 1) (quiet study room, no discussion)

 

Special Arrangement for Public Holidays

The After Hours Study Room has changed operating hours on the following public holidays for 2012:

  • Good Friday (06 April) CLOSED
  • Easter Saturday (07 April) CLOSED
  • Easter Sunday (08 April) CLOSED
  • Easter Monday Holiday (09 April) CLOSED
  • Anzac Day (25 April) 6pm to 2am
  • Queens Birthday (Monday 11 June) 6pm to 2am
  • Labour Day (Monday 01 October) 6pm to 2am

Special Arrangement for MQ Open Day

(07 to 09 September 2012)

The University Open Day changes the standard arrangement for three days because we need to set up building C5C for Open Day. For 07 to 09 September the venue is changed to the same room used for exams.

End of Year Recess

(03 December 2012 to 01 January 2013)

The After Hours Study Room will be CLOSED in this break. Also note that the Library hours are usually reduced as well.

 

Identified Special Needs Students

Room C5C 209 can only be accessed by authorised students using swipe cards during the following times on the dates above:

  • Monday to Friday: 10pm - 2am
  • Saturday to Sunday: 6pm - 2am

 


IMPORTANT INFO

FACILITIES, CONDITIONS & RULES

  1. Security will frequently patrol in the designated area while the room is operating. At the close of the rooms all students should be asked to leave the building, and the building will be locked.
  2. The C5C rooms are covered by wireless network and therefore provide computer network access for students who have notebook computers.
  3. Rooms C5C 238 and C5C 240 are for quiet study only, no discussion. Quiet group discussion is permissible in the larger room C5C 236. No discussion is allowed when W5A T1 is used.
  4. Students have access to the toilets opposite and outside of W5A T1.
  5. There is an internal "house" phone in the study rooms which occupants can use to dial security (x7112) or emergency (x9999) or other internal numbers.
  6. Security can provide an escort service to the car park area for patrons 24 hrs a day. Students should call x7112 to arrange the escort, which may arrive up to 15 minutes after the phone call.
  7. No food and drink, apart from water only in sealed containers (plastic bottles), will be allowed in the rooms. Food and other drink must be consumed outside the building and security will ask any student with food or drink to leave.
  8. Students are not to interfere with any equipment installed in the rooms and will be asked to leave if found doing so. Equipment in the rooms is alarmed and alarms triggered in this area will be investigated by security.
  9. The Library "closing time" announcement will advise students of the location and operating times of the After Hours Study Room for that day.
